Why a step challenge in the middle of the Aussie winter?
To raise awareness and much-needed funds to accelerate and promote advancement in pancreatic cancer research.
To promote health and well-being through movement and a sense of a connection to the community.
To remember all those who have gone before us who lost their battle due to pancreatic cancer.
We need to act now...
Pancreatic cancer is the eighth most diagnosed cancer in Australia. It is estimated that just under 5,000 people will receive a pancreatic cancer diagnosis every year.
This accounts for 2.8% of all cancer diagnoses in the country, yet by 2030 it is expected pancreatic cancer will be Australia’s second biggest cancer killer.
The five-year survival rate of pancreatic cancer is barely above 10%, and early diagnosis is key to survival. With funds passing through to the Jreissati Pancreatic Centre at the Epworth, we have an opportunity to make a real difference.
